Football Fever 4 – The Achievers Report

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I heard a very interesting report on Radio 5 yesterday about football’s greatest club achievers.  You might think Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal maybe but you would be a million miles away.

It’s a debate that can be heard every week in every ground, pub and living room around the country: whether your favourite team, or your biggest rivals, have under-achieved or over-achieved. A short article was available in the Scotsman however, the main report was commissioned by The New Football Pools and you can view the whole report there.

East Fife Tickets

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

As you may have read, the club decided that the allocation of tickets for the game at New Bayview on November 8th would go to season ticket holders first, then to members of the supporters groups, and finally to a public sale (if any are left). The first part of that is now complete, and we have been offered a small number of tickets to distribute to our members, as have the other supporters groups.

If you haven’t already got a ticket for this match and would like one, please send an email to with your name and address (so that we can confirm that you are a Trust member) and whether you would like an adult (£13) or concession (£7) ticket.

The club need to know whether we’re taking up our allocation by Friday morning, so it’s a case of first come first served – apologies for the tight timescale for this, but as you’ll hopefully understand the club would rather not organise a public sale at the last minute. We’d also ideally have liked to make this offer to all of our members rather than just those with email and internet access, so if you know of any Trust members who are not online please let them know about this.

Football & The Credit Crunch

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

The 200% blog is well worth reading. There’s an article on there about how the current economic situation could affect football, and while their article focuses on the English Premiership, the issue is just as relevant in SFL Division Two.

Isn’t always as it seems

Thought this was quite an interesting insight into life as a manager and in team selection. Maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to criticise the manager when we don’t know the full story. See Paul Fletcher’s blog here.
