Changing Scottish Football For a Future Where Fans Matter

A campaign blog (http://changingscottishfootball.wordpress.com) has been set up by Supporters Direct Scotland to give fans, Supporters’ Trusts and those with knowledge and experience of the game at the grassroots a say in its future across the country.

While there is still some resistance within SPL clubs to the current plan to restructure the league structure there is still a good chance that the plan will be passed at the next meeting of SPL clubs over the summer. We want to help send a message to all those in charge of SPL and SFL clubs that the fans do not want the current plan enacted and instead want to help develop a new plan that takes the views of the fans seriously and works towards making the leagues bigger not smaller.

If this is something you agree with we urge you to sign one of our campaign postcards and pass the message on through email, online forums and noticeboards to get as many of your fellow fans to sign one as well. We want this to be a campaign that represents the widest group of football fans possible and demonstrates to them that we are more effective when we work together for a common goal.

The survey SD ran earlier this year showed that 88% of fans are against the move to a smaller top division. Despite some movement in the original plan a 10 team top league remains on the table. Furthermore the plan doesn’t address the concerns of fans over the issue of financial stability or what UEFA have called ‘financial doping’.
