Raith Trust announce first fundraising target

The organisers of the “Reclaim the Rovers” campaign, which aims to bring Raith Rovers FC back into local community ownership, have announced an initial fundraising target of £100,000 and revealed that they’re already on their way to achieving it.

Raith Trust Secretary, James Proctor explained, “After the highly successful public launch of the campaign it became clear that people needed a target to aim for in regard to the fundraising effort. A figure of £100,000 will be demanding but we think it’s achievable if the community pull together and work to make this happen. We have already banked a significant amount of money and there are further pledges which we are now following up on so we’re really starting to build some momentum.”

Mr. Proctor continued, “We have a range of ways for people to help, from simply making donations to organising fundraising events to joining the structured Loan Fund which lets fans make contributions of £250 to support the community bid. We also intend to get in touch with the business community to outline how they can work in partnership with the community. We really see this as a campaign that unites local people in a common purpose.”

The fundraising kicks off in earnest with a quiz night at 7.30pm on Friday 11 March at the Elbow Room, Rosslyn Street, Kirkcaldy – teams can be entered in advance by sending a £20 cheque and contact details to the Raith Trust.

Other events will soon be announced so check local press for details.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the campaign should make cheques payable to “The Raith Trust” and send them to PO Box 26727, Kirkcaldy, Fife KY2 5WP, or go online at www.raithtrust.org.uk
