YDI Fundraising

During the 2008/09 season, the Raith Trust are running a fundraising campaign to contribute to the cost of the football club’s Youth Development Initiative which runs teams for the under 13, under 14, under 15, under 17 and under 19 age groups. Running the these teams takes up a large part of the club’s operating budget each season, but is a potential source of future value – and clearly is a big part of the club’s involvement in the local community.

We have committed to raising £15,000 towards the Youth Development Initiative this season, and will receive shares in return for our investment.

Rather than add more activity to an already busy social scene around the club and effectively dilute the great efforts that the other supporters groups do, we plan to invest some of the Trust’s existing money in projects that will generate profits for this great cause. To start this process we will be holding our first “Rovers Den” (just like Dragon’s Den on TV!) on Sunday 21st September at 7.00pm in the Raith Suite at Starks Park, where we will invite anybody who has a good idea but needs some initial start-up money to make it happen to come along and discuss possible financial support. Any idea will be considered – and as well as possibly providing money we will also endeavour to offer whatever non-financial support we can to make sure these projects are successful.

This is a model that we’ve run very informally up until now, and we currently have two projects in the pipeline. We’ll keep you posted on progress with our “fundometer” on the left of the screen, and through articles about specific projects on our main page.

Of course, this isn’t the only way to contribute. Regular and one-off donations are always greatly appreciated, and with Christmas approaching it’s a great time to check out the retailers who are part of our web shop.
