Tribute to Frank Connor and Rovers legends of the 1987 Promotion season and beyond! – Friday 2nd March

Raith Rovers Former Players’ Association and Rovers Down South have got together to organise a unique tribute to former manager Frank Connor and the players of the successful 1987 promotion winning team, and Frank’s players up until 1990 in a reunion event to be held on Friday 2nd March, the day before Rovers Down South sponsor the match against Morton.

Frank Connor who did so much to lay the foundations for Jimmy Nicholl’s glory years, will be joined by a host of stars – Hamish McAlpine, Gordon Arthur, Jock McStay, Paul Sweeney, Gary Voy, Eric Archibald, Shaun Dennis, Billy Herd, Colin Harris, Andy Harrow, Gordon Dalziel, Ian Gordon, Ian Ferguson, Billy Spence, John Wright… with more to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Ally Gourlay said “This occasion is very unique, and while most people regard the ’94 Cup Winning side as the greatest ever, and rightly so, it should also be remembered as a culmination of what Frank Connor started back in 1986. Never in 25 years have Frank’s charges got back together, and who knows when it may happen again.”

The event takes place at the Abbey Hotel, Milton Road, Kirkcaldy from 7.00 pm. There are a limited number of tickets available for supporters to say thanks to these great club servants. The £20 ticket includes a 3 course meal, a Q&A session, and an auction of Rovers memorabilia. There may also be video footage of Frank’s Rovers on display on the night. Any proceeds will go towards RDS sponsorship of the U17s and Rally Round Rovers.

Tickets are sure to sell fast – to reserve your seat or if you have any queries please contact roversdownsouth@hotmail.co.uk. Tickets should also be available via the various Supporters’ groups that make up RRR.

So join us and a host of Rovers legends for a special night out. Let’s Rally Round The Rovers, past and present!
