{"id":2959,"date":"2025-11-07T12:03:01","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T12:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.raithtrust.org.uk\/?page_id=2959"},"modified":"2025-12-04T16:25:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T16:25:13","slug":"rules-update-2025","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.raithtrust.org.uk\/?page_id=2959","title":{"rendered":"Rules Update 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Changes to Constitution and Introduction of Supporting Policies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to transition from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;constitution that is complex, difficult to understand, and not user-friendly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A constitution that has remained largely unchanged since its development in&nbsp;2002, making it outdated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A lack of clear, structured&nbsp;policies and procedures, which could lead to inconsistencies in governance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to move to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;simplified and streamlined&nbsp;constitution that is clearer, more meaningful, and accessible to all members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A comprehensive set of&nbsp;supporting policies&nbsp;covering key areas such as&nbsp;Board Membership &amp; Conduct, Disciplinary Procedures, Elections, Equality, Diversity &amp; Inclusion, and Social Media Use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Procedures for holding meetings that reflect\u00a0best practices\u00a0recommended by\u00a0Supporters Direct Scotland, ensuring strong and transparent governance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe these changes are required to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Modernise and future-proof&nbsp;the governance of the Raith Supporters Trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve&nbsp;transparency, accountability, and inclusivity&nbsp;in how the Raith Supporters Trust operates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure our rules and policies&nbsp;align with current best practices&nbsp;in supporter-led organisations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Summary of rule changes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Society\u2019s Objects are to benefit the community by:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>being the democratic and representative voice of the supporters of the Club and strengthening the bonds between the Club and the communities which it serves;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>achieving the greatest possible supporter and community influence in the running and ownership of the Club;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>promoting responsible and constructive community engagement by present and future members of the communities served by the Club and encouraging the Club to do the same;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operating democratically, fairly, sustainably, transparently and with financial responsibility and encouraging the Club to do the same;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>being a positive, inclusive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all supporters of the Club regardless of their age, income, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality or religious or moral belief.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two new sub-clauses would be added to the rules on Membership, requiring members to take an active interest in the Society, and to respect confidentiality of its business decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The number of members required to call a meeting of the Society, and to be present at that meeting, would be reduced from 10% of the membership to 5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rules regarding the composition of the Society Board would be extensively re-written to make them more easily understood.
