Last Saturday, a group of Rovers fans walked from Starks Park to New Bayview, raising \u00a31229.89<\/strong> for the Trust\u2019s YDI fundraising campaign.<\/p>\n

Setting off at 10am from Stark’s Park, seven fans walked the 11 miles from stadium to stadium along the Fife coastal path, and were joined at West Wemyss by chef for the day John Mainland, bearing sandwiches and encouragement, and Gosia Korszla armed with a camera to capture some action shots of the event.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the walk (apart from the wonderful company, of course!) was walking down the hill into Lower Methil at 1.30 and being passed by the team coach on it’s way to the ground. It all happened too quickly to get the cameras out, but the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.<\/p>\n

Earlier this season the Trust made the football club\u2019s Youth Development Initiative the focus of their fundraising efforts over the course of the season. Through a combination of generous donations from Trust members, the sale of products like David Potter\u2019s \u201cRovers Greats\u201d book (copies of which are on sale from the club shop, the Trust website, and a number of retailers around Kirkcaldy) and events like Saturday\u2019s sponsored walk, this campaign has already raised almost \u00a36000, including the proceeds from this walk!<\/p>\n

Plans are afoot to make this an annual event \u2013 although organisers are hoping that next season\u2019s derby day destination will be East End Park rather than New Bayview!<\/p>\n

The Raith Trust would like to thank the walkers who took part, all who generously supported them, and of course the team for a victory to celebrate!<\/p>\n
