SPL continue to ignore supporters’ opinions

Thank you to everyone who completed the Supporters Direct survey over the last few weeks. You’ll have seen that the last few days’ newspapers gave the survey results very prominent coverage (see the links at the bottom of this post for some of the articles, and enjoy our James’ appearance on Reporting Scotland last night!)

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the reports of yesterday’s meeting of the SPL clubs suggests that they haven’t taken the slightest notice of what their customers think. Just to recap the results of the survey:

  • 76% of fans would prefer a 16 or 18-club SPL to the proposed ten teams
  • 88% oppose a reduction from 12 to 10 clubs
  • 76% support the idea of play-offs between the top two divisions
  • 92% believe they have not been properly consulted on proposals
  • 87% believe fans should be represented on the SFA
  • 80% agree that fans should have more say in the running of their club

The SPL’s latest announcements fly in the face of public opinion. So we still need to make our voices heard. There are a couple of quick and easy things you can do:
