League Cup re-vamp… what do you think?
Earlier this week it was announced that the League Cup will be restructured to include a group stage before the beginning of the league season, bonus points for penalty shoot-out victories, and a winter break for the top tier clubs (and potentially for clubs in the divisions below).

This competition is long overdue for a revamp imo.
My preference would be to invite another 6 teams to make it a 48 team competition at the outset. Seed and divide the teams over 8 groups according to their finishing places in the previous term. 8 sections with 1 from the 1st seed pot and one from the second and so on. Each team to play each other H & A with the top two from each section going forward into a 4 sections of 4 (seeded again) again H & A format with the top 2 going forward to the quarter finals (H & A) then winners to semis then onto a final. Lots of games but at least all of there small teams get at least 1 home game against a 1st seed side and if the big boys don’t like it they can blood their youngsters if they like.
